James is a Master of Wine and has spent many years in the wine trade. His knowledge of wine, its production and its history is extensive. He has blended sherries in Spain, bought wine in every corner of France - he has a particular knowledge and affection for Bordeaux and Champagnes, lectured worldwide and has overseen the opening and tasting of many fine and ancient bottles.

You can enjoy a wine tasting during your stay at Tolley Cottage Bed and Breakfast Bath. All tastings are very relaxed and light hearted and always intriguing. James recommends a tasting of half to one hour, usually early evening to give guests plenty of time to enjoy dinner in Bath afterwards.

Tasting One - Polish-up your Tasting Technique £40.00
Three wines shown which help to emphasise what happens to your palate and how to recognise flavours
(Tannins, acidity, alcohol etc).
   
Tasting Two - Varietal flavour characteristics £40.00
Three wines shown with the classic flavours of some famous grape varieties
(Merlot, Syrah/Shiraz , Sauvignon Blanc etc).
   
Tasting Three - Old World v New World    £50.00
Four wines chosen to show some typical differences between the old and the new world ways of making wine.
   
Specialist tasting - Bespoke tastings  
Wines selected by you to discuss and taste with James.
   

Prices are based on 1 or 2 people sharing the tasting. Prices for greater numbers or Bespoke Tastings are available on request.
